Oh, One Lovely Day

As I get older, it is really hard to find real, true friends. The people who I thought were my friends start to show their true colors. They disappoint and make you wonder how you even considered them a friend.

But then there are the few friends who will always be there for you, to support you and have your back no matter what.

My friend, S, is one of those people. We went to college together, pledged the same sorority and have been working together for the past 5 years at our company. She’s the friend that sends you a card in the mail when you get a promotion, get engaged, someone passes aways and just because. She’s one of the most thoughtful people I know.

She’s someone that I admire and look up to, even though she’s a year younger than me. Whenever I need advice or a sounding board, she’s one of the first people I talk to. She’s also always been one of my biggest supporters at work. If it wasn’t for her encouragement & support, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.

Today Wes received a card in the mail from her in sympathy of his grandfather passing. It wasn’t even addressed to me but I couldn’t help the tears flowing. It’s the little things y’all.

I’m so glad to have her in my life. She’s a rare gem.
